I was going through a really dark night of the soul, and I had this experience with my grandmother, she helped me to reconnect to her by something that she called memory mapping. And so I wanted to just share with you a segment of that. To help you experience the magic of memory mapping.
During a meditation, I was led into a white room, and there was a fireplace. As I turned around, my grandma had this beautiful Christmas tree and this beautiful pine tree, and she had popcorn that she wanted me to string with her. We were communicating spirit to spirit.
As I was stringing along the popcorn, I was just talking to her, just getting in her space and just being in this loving space with her. She began to explain and give me some ideas about how I could deepen my own connection with my ancestors. She gave me a couple of different ideas of how we can find ways to connect to them during this time of the year. So as were decorating it, she stopped me and said, I want you to look around, I want you to focus on what it is that you can see with me right now.
And as I was looking around, all of a sudden it was like this tree was in her front room in the house that she had when I grew up. And then she said, I want you to focus on the smell. And all of a sudden I could smell her house and I want you to focus on what it is that you can hear. And my grandmother had oxygen as well, and so I could hear the oxygen machine. She led me to focus on all five senses. Grandma showed me the pure magic of memory mapping.
Focusing on the five senses can be incredibly helpful, especially when dealing with grief and the loss of a loved one, as it provides a tangible and grounding way to navigate the complex emotions that arise during such times. As a professional medium, I understand the significance of this approach in helping individuals reconnect with their departed loved ones.
When grieving, our emotions can become overwhelming and sometimes even disorienting. By engaging our senses – sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell – we can bring ourselves back to the present moment. For instance, looking at cherished photographs or memorabilia can evoke beautiful memories and create a sense of connection. Listening to a loved one’s favorite music or voice recordings can make them feel closer.
The act of touch, whether holding onto an item that belonged to the departed or even embracing a comforting blanket, can provide a sense of physical presence. Preparing and savoring a meal that was loved by the deceased can engage the sense of taste and promote a feeling of connection through shared experiences. Lastly, fragrances associated with the departed can evoke powerful memories and emotions, helping to maintain a sense of their presence.
By focusing on these senses, individuals can create meaningful rituals and coping strategies, fostering a sense of closeness and healing in their grief journey. This approach can also be valuable when writing articles about grief, as it offers practical advice for finding hope and connection even after the loss of a loved one.
This is a great activity to bring you back into the present moment.
Take time to focus on each of the five senses. This is a great indication to understand what senses are easy for you to focus through.
This will become a direct correlation to your physic/spiritual senses.
Memory Mapping is a method used to connect to a human, a memory, or a place to remember and reconnect to that previous moment in time. By slowing down and taking time to reflect, you open a portal to receive a deeper connection. When we take the time to remember we are showing up to let our loved ones be present with us.
How To:
You can set the intention to call upon that space and to just remember every aspect of their personality. Because sometimes people can be very dynamic and bold, and then other times they can be very sweet and sensitive. And so really, it’s setting that time to map into the space.
Not only that, it’s giving you a space to call upon their spirit, their higher self, their arm, to jump into your space and to be with you and to help you feel their presence and their strength and their love and their guidance.
